Donated in 1997 by Dr Chew Chin Hin in memory of his father, the late Dr Benjamin Chew, a gold and a silver medal ethics award is governed by the following conditions:
1. Nominees should be of good academic standing, scoring above 75% aggregate over Phase I, II and III of the Health ethics, Law and Professionalism (HeLP) course; and
2. Maintain attendance record of a minimum 75% in Health ethics, Law and Professionalism (HeLP) lectures and tutorials.
3. Shortlisted nominees who fulfil both the aforementioned criteria will be asked to provide a written reflection on Professionalism. Finalists will be invited for an interview with a panel of judges.
4. No award will be made unless there are candidates of sufficient merit.
